Kelly has been intentional throughout her career to work with purpose-driven organizations who share values of inclusivity and a commitment to improving systems for those who are marginalized.  

Kelly values inclusivity and knows well the negative impact of judgment and oppression on an individual or a community's sense of Self. Kelly connects with an openness, curiosity and acceptance that allows her clients the freedom to find their own solutions.

Mentoring with depth

In her career, Kelly has had the honour of mentoring and coaching individuals and teams who, because of their work, are exposed to trauma and suffering, or face other stressors like team division or inter-personal conflict.   Kelly believes that attending to the reality of this experience is key to improving levels of team functionality. Kelly operates from an anti-oppressive, strength-based lens and draws from a variety of counselling and leadership approaches.  Her open and accessible way of meeting her clients where they are at, coupled with her motivational interviewing skills, help to create a connection that is safe and respectful for team members to authentically share their experiences while broadening perspectives to embrace change and improvements.

Creating openness to change

Effectively managing change is often a missing element, leaving teams and organizations unable to interrupt the perpetual reactive cycle bouncing from one urgent competing pressure to the next. Investing time and attention into designing a framework of how an organization will proactively plan for, and respond to change, is a worthwhile priority creating a more nimble and adaptable atmosphere in the ever changing environment of the human service sector.

Kelly knows that anything is possible in an atmosphere that fosters creativity, courage, and the freedom to test and fail forward.  In fact, those are the conditions that most often result in innovation, quality, and satisfaction.  Kelly is known for demonstrating that it IS possible to create a culture of joy and kindness while also maintaining accountability and exceeding set targets.  

Our systems are over complicated and no longer make sense; they are built on archaic structures and based on narrow-minded oppressive perspectives and motivations. We need to be brave enough to acknowledge this truth and commit to dismantling these old structures and then together organize ourselves from a community development, ground-up approach, based on a foundation of genuine care for one another.
